Cogitent Press Terms and Conditions
Effective date: September 24, 2026
Website: https://cogitentpress.com
Website owner and operator: Cogitent Inc., operating as Cogitent Press
1 About these terms
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of cogitentpress.com (the “Website”) and, where applicable, products and digital resources supplied directly through the Website by Cogitent Inc. (“Cogitent Press,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
Please read these terms before using the Website. Where we ask you to accept these terms, selecting the acceptance option constitutes your agreement. If you do not agree, do not proceed with the relevant transaction or service.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or replaces rights or remedies that applicable law does not permit us to exclude, restrict, or replace. If these terms conflict with mandatory consumer-protection law, that law prevails.
2 Eligibility and accounts
To enter into an agreement with us, you must have legal capacity to do so under the laws applicable to you. A parent or legal guardian must complete transactions on behalf of anyone who lacks that capacity.
If the Website offers accounts, you must provide accurate information, keep your login credentials secure, and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. You must not use another person’s account without permission.
3 Permitted use of the Website
You may use the Website for lawful purposes, including learning about our publications, accessing authorized resources, and making purchases where offered.
You must not:
Use the Website for fraud, impersonation, harassment, or other unlawful activity.
Infringe another person’s intellectual-property, privacy, or other legal rights.
Upload malicious software, interfere with Website security, or attempt unauthorized access.
Collect personal information about other users without lawful authority.
Copy or systematically extract protected content without permission, except as permitted by law.
Misrepresent your relationship with Cogitent Inc., Cogitent Press, or our authors.
4 Copyright and intellectual property
The Website and its original text, artwork, designs, logos, book excerpts, downloads, and other protected materials belong to Cogitent Inc., our authors, or our licensors, as applicable.
You may view the Website and download or print materials that we make available for that purpose, subject to any license or usage instructions accompanying those materials.
Unless we expressly authorize it or applicable law permits it, you may not reproduce, distribute, sell, publicly post, translate, or adapt protected materials.
These terms do not limit fair dealing or other rights and exceptions available under applicable copyright law. Ownership of a physical book does not transfer copyright in its contents.
Requests for permissions, classroom use, bulk licensing, or reproduction should be sent to the contact listed below.
5 Educational content and publications
Our publications, articles, examples, worksheets, and other resources provide general information and education. Unless expressly stated otherwise, they do not constitute individualized legal, medical, financial, cybersecurity, or other professional advice.
Information may become outdated or may not apply to your circumstances. Where appropriate, consult a qualified professional or the relevant official source.
We do not promise that using our materials will produce a particular result or prevent every loss, scam, security incident, or other adverse event. This section does not limit any express commitment we make or any legal responsibility that cannot be excluded.
6 Product descriptions and availability
Where products are offered through the Website, we aim to describe them accurately, including their format and any material usage restrictions.
Before completing a purchase, review the product description, price, currency, applicable taxes, delivery charges, and any disclosed compatibility requirements.
We may update descriptions, prices, and availability for future purchases. Changes do not alter an existing contract without your agreement or another lawful basis. We will address errors affecting an existing order in accordance with applicable law.
7 Purchases directly from Cogitent Press
This section applies only when Cogitent Inc. is the seller identified at checkout.
Before you submit an order, we will provide the applicable purchase details and an opportunity to review and correct your information. The checkout process will identify the step that concludes the purchase, subject to applicable law.
You must provide accurate billing and delivery information and use a payment method you are authorized to use. We will provide an order confirmation and any contract information required by law in a form you can retain.
Any additional product-specific terms must be disclosed before purchase. Those terms supplement these terms and cannot override mandatory legal rights.
8 Purchases from other retailers
Our Website may link to books or products sold by independent retailers or distributors.
If you purchase from another seller, that seller’s terms govern its checkout, payment, delivery, and return arrangements. Contact that seller about order-related issues.
This section does not exclude any responsibility Cogitent Inc. independently has under applicable law.
9 Delivery and digital access
For physical products sold directly by us, available destinations, delivery charges, and estimated delivery times will be provided before purchase. Contact us if an order is missing, damaged, or materially different from its description.
For digital products, we will disclose the format, delivery method, material technical requirements, and any access or download limits before purchase.
Unless a different licence is expressly supplied, digital publications are licensed for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not redistribute files, share access credentials, or upload copies to publicly accessible platforms, except where authorized or permitted by law.
Companion worksheets may be printed and used for the purposes expressly described in their accompanying instructions. Broader organizational or commercial use requires permission unless the stated licence allows it.
10 Returns cancellations and refunds
For direct purchases, any voluntary return or refund arrangements will be disclosed before checkout.
Those arrangements do not limit statutory rights concerning defective, misdescribed, undelivered, or otherwise non-compliant goods or digital products, or any cancellation or refund rights available under applicable law.
Downloading a file or opening a product does not, by itself, eliminate rights that the law preserves.
Contact us with your order details and a description of the issue. We will assess the request under the terms disclosed at purchase and applicable law. Nothing in these terms prevents you from exercising a lawful chargeback right or contacting a consumer-protection authority.
11 Reviews feedback and submissions
If the Website allows public reviews or comments, submit only content that you have the right to share. Do not include confidential information or another person’s personal information without authorization.
You retain ownership of your content. By submitting material for public display, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, and display it for that purpose. We may make technical formatting changes without materially changing your meaning. Separate permission is required to use your submission as an advertising endorsement.
We may remove material that is unlawful, abusive, misleading, infringes rights, or violates these terms.
Sending a manuscript, proposal, or other creative work does not transfer ownership or create a publishing agreement. Any evaluation, confidentiality, or publishing arrangement must be established separately. Follow any submission instructions provided before sending unpublished work.
12 Privacy and communications
Our Privacy Policy, available at [insert Privacy Policy link], explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information.
Accepting these terms does not constitute blanket consent to optional marketing or unrelated uses of personal information.
Where we send promotional electronic messages, we will do so in accordance with applicable law and provide an unsubscribe mechanism. You may withdraw marketing consent using that mechanism or by contacting us.
We may still send necessary transaction or service communications where permitted by law.
13 Third party links
Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience or reference. Unless expressly stated, a link does not constitute an endorsement.
Third-party websites have their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control their content or operations. This does not limit responsibilities that applicable law places on us for our own conduct.
14 Availability and responsibility
We take reasonable steps to maintain the Website, but uninterrupted or error-free access cannot be guaranteed. Maintenance, technical problems, and events outside our reasonable control may affect availability.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not provide implied warranties concerning free Website access beyond those expressly stated. This does not exclude statutory warranties, legal guarantees, or express commitments relating to purchased products.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from Website use. This exclusion does not apply to fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.
For consumers in Quebec, these terms do not exclude or limit the consequences of our own acts or those of our representatives where Quebec law prohibits such exclusion or limitation.
15 Restricting access
We may reasonably restrict access to the Website where necessary to address a security threat, unlawful activity, or a material breach of these terms.
Where practicable, we will explain the restriction and provide an opportunity to resolve the issue. A restriction does not extinguish accrued consumer rights, valid refund claims, or our obligations under an existing purchase contract.
16 Changes to these terms
We may update these terms for future use of the Website and will identify the revised effective date.
Where required by law, we will provide advance notice, obtain consent, or provide applicable cancellation rights. Changes do not retroactively alter completed purchases or accrued rights.
The version accepted for a purchase continues to govern that purchase unless a lawful amendment is agreed.
17 Governing law and disputes
Subject to mandatory laws that apply to you, these terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there.
This choice does not deprive consumers of mandatory protections available under the laws of their place of residence.
You may contact us to seek an informal resolution of a concern. Doing so is not a prerequisite to exercising statutory rights and does not suspend legal deadlines.
Disputes may be brought before a court with jurisdiction under applicable law. These terms do not require mandatory arbitration or waive any right to participate in a class proceeding where that right is protected by law.
18 General provisions
If a provision is found invalid or unenforceable, it will be ineffective to that extent, and the remaining provisions will continue to apply where legally possible.
A failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive the right to enforce it later.
These terms, together with applicable product-specific terms accepted at purchase, govern their subject matter. They do not override mandatory legal rights or representations that applicable law makes binding.

Terms & Conditions - the basics
Having said that, Terms and Conditions (“T&C”) are a set of legally binding terms defined by you, as the owner of this website. The T&C set forth the legal boundaries governing the activities of the website visitors, or your customers, while they visit or engage with this website. The T&C are meant to establish the legal relationship between the site visitors and you as the website owner.
T&C should be defined according to the specific needs and nature of each website. For example, a website offering products to customers in e-commerce transactions requires T&C that are different from the T&C of a website only providing information (like a blog, a landing page, and so on).
T&C provide you as the website owner the ability to protect yourself from potential legal exposure, but this may differ from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, so make sure to receive local legal advice if you are trying to protect yourself from legal exposure.
What to include in the T&C document
Generally speaking, T&C often address these types of issues: Who is allowed to use the website; the possible payment methods; a declaration that the website owner may change his or her offering in the future; the types of warranties the website owner gives his or her customers; a reference to issues of intellectual property or copyrights, where relevant; the website owner’s right to suspend or cancel a member’s account; and much, much more.
